WELCOME
Julian McBride Racing & Coaching: Where passion, precision, and resilience mean high performance, on and off the track.
I'm Julian, a semi-professional racer, FIA Mentor, and certified ARDS (Association of Racing Driver Schools) Instructor. I'm proud to be one of only a handful of disabled ARDS instructors in the UK and one of only a few dozen FIA mentors worldwide.
Know that you're in good hands; I've been through it all whilst being disabled and still come out on top!
My mission is to inspire you, whether disabled or able-bodied, to unlock your own full potential on-track or otherwise, no matter the challenge.

MY JOURNEY
My passion for motorsport has been part of my life for as long as I can remember. From being pushed around in the garden on my red push-along car, to my first podium finish in 2016, to outright victories, pole positions, fastest laps and championship wins. My journey has been built on relentless determination, unswerving commitment and love for motorsport.
Throughout my life I've owned a huge number of cars, driven hundreds, and had my own race cars built - each with their own story, lessons, and unforgettable memories that have shaped who I am today.
After sustaining a life altering spinal injury after what was meant to be a fairly simple and routine operation, I was diagnosed with Cauda Equina Syndrome (incomplete) and left completely paralysed from the waist down. I have regained partial mobility through years of rehabilitation.
Since then, I have readjusted my attitude to life and the challenges it presents. I've adapted and modified my driving setup and style, and turned my experience into a platform to motivate and support others facing their own obstacles.

RACING
I race because I love the craft. The preparation, precision, and strategy that goes into every lap. I've competed in multiple events across the UK, and in Belgium, achieving success in both Class A and Class B with outright
wins, podium finishes and championships.
I'm always looking to learn, from driving and mindset, to technology and new developments; performance requires a growth mindset.
My time in the corporate world, where the pressure to perform is 24x7, has taught me all about human performance and what it takes to win. This has served me well in overcoming my disability, on my way to realising my success as a racing driver.

With 37 years in corporate IT and cyber security, both as a technologist and in sales, with 20 years in leadership, as a successful business professional and accomplished public speaker I bring a wealth of experience in developing and coaching individuals and teams to perform at their best.
As an FIA accredited "disability in motorsport" mentor I work with anyone involved with or who has an interest in motorsport, or anyone who happens to have a disability, from dyspraxia to tetraplegia.
"I am committed to winning as a racing driver just as I have been committed to winning in my corporate life. I bring the same commitment to instructing and teaching and take nothing for granted."
I work with people to support their personal or professional ambitions whether that be behind the wheel of a car, physical or virtual, or supporting them in progressing their career whether it's motorsport related or otherwise.

COACHING TESTIMONIAL
I met Julian through our participation in the MSUK Certificate in Coaching Motorsport in 2025.
Through spending time in his company, I quickly and readily realised that we shared the same belief system, particularly relating to opening up access to opportunity for those facing barriers to entry and progression. He was someone I wanted to work with to impact my own racing aspirations and development and, quite simply, be "in my corner".
His reputation and credibility as one of the most successful Club racers in the country was not lost on me either! He knows what he is talking about as he’s been there.
Over the course of a very challenging race season just gone, his coaching, mentoring and support of me have already impacted on my development as a race driver late into motorsport, particularly helping me develop the right mindset, get round barriers in my way and significantly improving my confidence and self-esteem along the way.
What stands out to me from other driver coaches I have worked with is his passion for the sport, drive to succeed, honesty and determination, especially when the going gets tough and his incisive approach as to what needs to change to improve performance.
I look forward to a continuation of our relationship into the 2026 season. In saying this, I would not hesitate to recommend Julian to any race driver who wants to make a significant step change in their mindset, skills and knowledge and ultimately their performance.
